  • Eat more fruits and vegetables: Try to eat at least five portions of fruits and vegetables a day. 
  • Eat whole grains: Choose whole grains like brown rice, barley, and whole-wheat bread and pasta instead of refined grains like white rice and white bread. 
  • Eat healthy fats: Use healthy fats like olive oil, vegetable oils, avocados, nuts, nut butters, and nut oils. 
  • Limit added sugar: Avoid foods and drinks with added sugar, like desserts, jellies, and sodas. 
  • Drink water: Drink plenty of water and try to avoid drinks right before meals
